What Is The Next Step...?

Hello. I spent a number of hours this summer focusing on the NH Primary and the Iowa Caucus; learning why they have the status: "First in the Nation." Now, I am not interested in politics to the same extent as some of the other students; however it is unfair to say that I am not appreciative of the opportunity to educate myself a bit further through this class.

I have oftened referred to myself as a modertate conservative, but really I am just as indecisive as the politicians who voted for the war, only to retract their statements later. I have observed those students with a conservative stance, listening to their reasons for why Romney is a deserving candidate; just as many times as I have listened to some liberals say, "Who the hell are we gonna nuke, Barack!"

Now, months after the students have gone back to their own schools we seem to only communicate through the resources of FACEBOOK, as even I have not paid much attention to the campaigns. However, what I have noticed are the student's in this program gravitating towards particular campaigns. Whether it be working diligently on the Richardson campaign, being promoted twice within a period of two months; or driving Mike Gravel to the debates.

Contrary to my fellow FINS, I am undecided as to even who I would vote for in the primary, let alone the election. I find myself listening to biased comments of other students rather than taking the initiative to look any deeper into a particular campaign. The thought of voting is overwhelming seeing as there are so many contradictions and uncertainties; a concern that I share with the people on my hallway, in my classes, and at home. I took part in this program to take what I learn and relay that information to my peers, so that they may be better educated in the subject of politics, so that they will WANT to vote in the upcoming election. However, as I reflect on all the activities I should have been, and haven't done, I realize that I can no longer listen to the subjective remarks of my fellow FINS, and create some of my own.
